Russell McVeagh's Ground-breaking Deals Win Big at ALB Awards

Russell McVeagh was delighted to win two 'Deal of the Year' awards at the Macquarie Bank ALB Australasian Law Awards 2011, held in Sydney on May 19.

Russell McVeagh won the Australasian Debt Market Deal of the Year for its ground-breaking work on the Bank of New Zealand's covered bonds issue.  This deal, which established New Zealand and Australasia's first ever covered bond programme, has already collected a swathe of industry awards including the Structured Finance & Securitisation Deal of the Year at the IFLR Asian Awards and the prestigious INFINZ Debt Deal of the Year.

Russell McVeagh also won the prestigious New Zealand Deal of the Year for our involvement in the biggest change to local Government in New Zealand's history, the Auckland local authority amalgamation aka Supercity.  Valued at over US$21bn, this was New Zealand’s largest ever merger and followed on from a Royal Commission investigation into appropriate governance arrangements for New Zealand’s largest city.
